À l'écoute du premier véritable album du
Banjo Consorsium,
on est étonné de la continuité avec le mini-album paru il y a
environ un an. On retrouve d'ailleurs quatre des six pièces qui le
composaient. Mais si The Future Sound of London s'égarait dans les
effluves de patchouli et s'écrasait en plein milieu de nulle part
avec The Isness, The Banjo Consorsium réussit ici son envolée avec
sa propre mouture de sonorités acoustiques (guitare, banjo, flûtes,
percussions, lapsteel, etc.) rehaussées d'électronique, d'où
l'appellation folktronic. L'une des plus belles trouvailles de
l'Estrie, présentant parfois des affinités avec l'album Sakura de
Susumu Yokota. Qui a dit que l'électronique manquait de
chaleur?

"Pre-Release track" by Channel in Channel Out. Marcus Cotten steals
the show with gentle, lonesome vocals that linger.Unlike some
downer folkies, he doesn't whisper-- his voice is rich and he
always opens up and sings. Acquire a Faceblanket reintroduce piano,
the emotions and atmospherics of Cotten's earlier "The urbulence
E.P". Aquiring a faceblanket mean growing a beard to cover up your
face to not be seen, to have solitude. Cotten is simple, intimate,

Class Clown drew from far more abstract and obscure influences than
any other album released on 9.12. It's an album of sparking
paradox. It's cacophonous yet tranquil, experimental yet familiar,
foreign yet womb-like, spacious yet visceral, textured yet
vaporous, awakening yet dreamlike. Plainfingers touch upon an
incredibly unique sound that could potentially inspire an entirely

is still present. Shimmers, vastness, fascination, animation and
